• The Hospitality and Entertainment Committee is considering strengthening cooperation with the Civil Defense Directorate in the Eastern Province

    The Vice-President of Asharqia Chamber and the Chairman of the Hospitality and Entertainment Committee Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Boali with his meeting with the Assistant Director of Civil Defense in the Eastern Province Brigadier General Abdullah bin Maatq Al Qahtani reviewed ways of enhancing cooperation and coordination to develop the sector and raise the level of performance.

    The meeting held at the Chamber's headquarters on Tuesday December 25.

     

    Al-Baoali said that the Hospitality and Entertainment Committee aims to develop work in three sectors: restaurants, accommodation, and entertainment through discussion of challenges and proposing solutions, conducting studies and events, and exchanging experiences.

    He stressed the importance of the hospitality and entertainment sector of the national economy, which includes a number of positive, most notably is its significant contribution to the provision of direct and indirect jobs.

    It is the second largest sector in the field of Saudization (after the retail sector), which is distinguished by the search for qualified workers for this type of work, so work in the sector must be subject to a certain level of training.

    He explained that the sector is in line with the Vision of the Kingdom 2030 in terms of attracting local and foreign investments to work in the sector of added value.

    The hospitality and recreation sector is estimated at SAR 79 billion for restaurants, 31 billion for hotels and 17 billion for entertainment,

     The sector is contributing to the revival of local content, as 32% of the size of the sector is spent in this area, and this fulfills some of the objectives of the Vision that emphasized this meaning in more than one of its articles.

     

    For his part, Brigadier General Qahtani stressed on the necessity of the commitment of the workers in the sector to all the requirements of safety because this commitment is important to maintain these facilities and employees.

    Mr. Al Qahtani also noted the keenness of the Civil Defense to communicate and cooperate with the institutions and work to overcome the challenges facing investors in this sector.

    He stressed that the entertainment and hospitality sector includes many institutions and activities and every activity in this sector includes various requirements and disciplines that require the availability of appropriate safety requirements and awareness of its importance to investors.

     

    At the end of the meeting, the deputy chairman of Asharqia Chamber Hamad Al-Boali honored the Assistant to the Director of Civil Defense in the Eastern Province, Brigadier General Abdullah Al-Qahtani with a commemorative shield.​
